WaukeeCSD Special Election Absentee Request Deadline set for January 26, 2018

As a reminder, the Waukee Board of Education has called a special election scheduled for Feb. 6.  For those wishing to vote absentee, the following information and timelines are included in this email. Details for voting at the polls on Feb. 6 are also included.


The Auditor’s Office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on January 26, 2018, for the absentee request by mail deadline.

Voters who vote absentee at the Auditor’s Office after the January 26 deadline or those who plan to register on election day at the polls will need to show proof of residence and proof of identity. Proof of residency must be current within the last 45 days. Hard copy proof of residency (electronic copies are unacceptable) can be accomplished with:

  • Property tax statement
  • Utility bill
  • Bank Statement
  • Paycheck
  • Other government document
  • Acceptable proofs of identification must contain a photo and include:
    • An Iowa driver’s license
    • Out-of-state driver’s license
    • Non-driver identification card
    • US passport
    • Veteran ID

All forms of ID must be current, valid, and contain an expiration date. Voters may cast an absentee ballot at the Dallas County Auditor’s Office during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until Monday February 5. February 6 – Polling Locations

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on February 6, 2018. Residents can vote at either location.

  • Waukee Community School District Administration Office, 560 SE University Ave, Waukee
  • St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 7075 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines

About the Bond Referendum

Waukee Community School District Board of Education will be calling for a special election to be held on February 6, 2018, to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $117,000,000 to provide funds to build, furnish and equip a new high school building and improve the site, including grading of access routes and the 160-acre site; and to improve, remodel, furnish and equip the current high school facility.

No Tax Impact!

Approval of this bond referendum will not impact the district’s portion of your property tax rate.
